The Palazzo was a 'mere' ruin. Covered in stones and rubble. Plants, even trees made it their home. But inside this unfinished and forgotten residency blooms more than just flowers and trees.
The idea that is -a life coming together- by friends, family, musicians, artists, politicians, workers, students, companions and travelers beholds a far greater goal and meaning than just the beautiful ruin of a building that it currently is. The philosophical ideals of art, expression, beauty and communion shall instill vibrant life, stories and passion.
Accounting for all the beauty that put Badolato in its place and made it so unique, there is also a demand for growth, as the ever so picturesque Village and its surroundings are slowly fading away into oblivion.
This project is determined to set a first and reasonable milestone, to help Badolato expand in terms of economical, sustainable, cultural and social development.
Having this big, antique Palazzo in the midst of this tiny labyrinthian village sets its potential value and meaning quite high, so finishing the once started but never ended process and revitalizing it, can bear many fruit. Besides it standing next to the largest Palazzo of Badolato which used to be a school -that after a fire took place lost its use and remains a husk,- we try to bring that missing aspect back into this Borgo.
Various craftsmanship, from metal- and stone- to woodworking. We are striving to offer a dedicated workshop with dedicated apprentices and dedicated teachers and all the tools they demand.
In this day and age, modernity's digitalization can be crippling to traditions and once everlasting art, culture and architecture seems to slowly fade, lose its charm, characteristics and soul. We want to offer education and research possibilities as well as workshops to grasp the soul and matter of such an old place, old antiques and old architecture, dive evermore into this beauty's context, help rebuild, and train people of that needed skill to maintain and preserve old material and sites.
Besides offering a place to do research, study- and computer-work all year long in a beautiful and welcoming small library, we will also offer seasonal functions. Whilst the workshop is productive yearround, the majestic garden lures you in with cultural events, theater, art, theme nights, music, dance and dining. Our goal is to revitalize the village in form of sustainable production, thus the productive village.
Its rather Unique location when compared to urban cities, surrounding beautiful nature and its infrastructure make it a challenging but very rewarding project, not just for Badolato and alike future-projects, but also for the very communion, people and their society.
Through various workshops we can use those opportunities and adjust accordingly to tackle such demands. E.G. training plumbers and or welders whilst simultaneously communing with government officials whom interests in revitalizing Badolato and further rural borgos and projects of its kind align and politically incise to implement better water-storage, -usage and -facilitation in such hard to gather areas. Rehabilitating and/or remaking/improving facilities via trained carpenters, builders, engineers and architects who appropriately found training in just such building sites and projects Badolato has to offer to further improve knowledge in such regions for further projects as already mentioned. Furthermore studying and teaching desolate areas might lead to consensus and common understanding of recycling, upcycling, repurposing and sustainable cyclic economics.
During rehabilitation we aimed to create the first habitat, Flat B2, --> check orientation for overview
